10th July 2020 - Corona Virus Update
Sadly Covid-19 has wiped out the face to face demonstrations and get togethers that we all enjoy. A brave new world of IRD (Interactive Remote Demonstrations), Zoom, etc. has emerged from the ashes of the pandemic. While we all hope to return to our clubs and as demonstrators to the club scene in due course I think it's safe to say that technology will feature stromgly in the years to come.
I'm a little behind others in being able to present full demonstrations remotely but hope to be able to offer this shortly. I hope this will be of interest to the clubs I've visited previously and to others possibly further afield where travel time and expense can be prohibitive. More of this to follow.....
In the meantime, I hope you and your families, friends and loved ones stay safe and well. Keep making the shavings
Very Best Wishes
A Bit About Me
I first took to woodturning in 2008 and have since been developing my skills, ideas and portfolio. I'm an active member of Sheffield Woodturning Club where I've been fortunate to see demonstrations from many of the best turners on the circuit.
Turning is a therapeutic change from my desk based day job where I work in IT. In the fullness of time, I hope woodturning will overtake IT as my main occupation but in the meantime I aim to further develop my skills and share what I've learned with other enthusiasts and beginners alike.
So what style of turning do I do....? I'll have a go at anything, I sincerely think this is the only way to develop a broad skill base. I do take commissions so please contact me to discuss any requirements but please note I am not a producion turner. Have a look at the Gallery pages for some examples of my work. I've added a few Projectsshowing a bit more of the making process which may also be of interest.
I completed the AWGB demonstrator training course in 2015. Since then I'm pleased to have been invited to present my ideas and original techniques to many woodturning clubs across the country. Please have a look at my Diaryfor past and future demonstrations.
In March 2017 I took the AWGB Approved Tutor assessment which I'm pleased to say I passed. I now have my own workshop where I can run courses tailored to individuals requirements. I am also more than happy to train you in your own workshop helping you to get the most from the equipment you have. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.
All the best
